Tradies are the Foundation of Australia

Most people should understand that Australian tradies are the ones who created Australia. The work of Tradies represents the foundation of everything we have. And you know what? Almost everything you notice when you look around tends to reinforce this undeniable fact. Nearly everything that enables us to live a contemporary and civilised life has been built, maintained and repaired by a Tradie. This statement is valid for the houses we live in, the cars we rely on, the roads we drive on, and the offices we work in.

Moreover, even our doctors wouldn’t be able to do the miracles they do if Tradies hadn’t initially made their facilities for them. The same goes for teachers, lawyers, business owners, and politicians. Maybe we would all still be living in the Stone Age without Tradies! Since very little else created by humans that is significant would even exist without tradies, they may just be the very foundation of modern civilisation. Some of us show Tradies a lot of respect, but it’s probably not enough.

Degree or a Trade?

Nowadays, kids in schools increasingly believe that obtaining a university degree, whether a master’s or a doctorate, constitutes “success.” And, working as a tradesman is often viewed as a last resort for some bizarre reason? As a result, in the future, we may be left with a group of over academically qualified Millennials who cannot find suitable employment. Let alone repay their HECS debts! If that does occur, a tiny proportion of younger millennial Tradies will be in real trouble. For instance, not only will they be overworked, they’ll be forced to shoulder a significant economic burden. This will be due to too many qualified individuals competing for the same quantity of labour.

The DIY Myth

Due to the enormous “DIY” pandemic, where big hardware firms attempt to persuade ordinary people that they can design, rebuild, or build just about whatever they like, Tradies likely don’t receive the full respect they deserve. Therefore, we may occasionally laugh off an estimate from a qualified Tradie to complete a task we foolishly believe we can achieve ourselves. But have we considered the enormous skill set required to be a qualified Tradie?

Love Your Tradies

Why do some people think of a plumber as a Tradie who does not deserve their deepest respect? Why is it when some folks think of an electrician that they don’t pause to consider the impressive understanding of energy they have? And the fantastic work—mentally and physically—that goes into locating and correcting a potentially dangerous electrical fault? Regrettably, we frequently downplay that many of these tradies are all independent, practical “scientists” in their trade sectors. Did you know Tradies account for 30% of the workforce? Finally, these often modest Australian heroes never seem to demand the necessary respect for their incredible daily work. Respect our tradies!
