Hello, my name is Ernie. I love to be in the kitchen surrounded by delicious food. My husband Matthew and myself came up with “Ernies Kitchen” because I was born a foodie and wine lover. I am not a cook, I am a front-of-house operator. I ensure a smooth transition from the kitchen of the chef to the table for the guests.
I have worked in a wide range of places including cafes, restaurants and private members clubs. My career has exposed me to all aspects of the food industry. I have lived in many cities, including Melbourne, Sydney, The Gold Coast, and London. London was the city where I gained my most extensive food knowledge, having spent 20 years there. London is one the most dynamic and eclectic cultural melting pots in the world. Culture and food are mixed together. Ernie’s Kitchen combines all of these elements with a cosmopolitan style and a warm ambiance.
It wasn’t an overnight success. I recall the late night discussions my husband Matthew had with me in our London apartment, where we discussed menus, and how to add a twist of Australian cuisine in my home upon our return. Because I want to incorporate the Aussie favorites that I remember from my childhood with modern influences into our menus using native herbs, spices and other ingredients. Our brand is based on these key elements – Australian dishes that are well known with a contemporary twist. We keep our authenticity and excitement by staying at the forefront of new inventions in cooking.
