Dr Lim is a Malaysian-born Australian who arrived in Australia as an international student in 1993. In 1994, he began his medical studies at The University of Melbourne. He graduated from medical school in 2000 with first class honours and won the Royal Australia and New Zealand College of Physicians Prize for Clinical Medicine.
He was accepted in 2004 into a 5-year training program in Ophthalmology, at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital. After completing his training as an ophthalmologist, Dr Lim went overseas to gain more experience. He spent one year in Oxford in the United Kingdom, working with Dr John Salmon. Salmon is an eminent British specialist in glaucoma. Then, he completed a fellowship in medical retinal disease at Bristol Eye Hospital. This included wet macular (AMD), diabetic eye diseases and wet macula degeneration. He returned to Australia in 2010 to work in Perth with Professor Ian McAllister, where he completed his advanced training in the field of retinal surgery.
Dr Lim is a Coffs Harbour, Grafton, and Macksville resident since 2011. He is dedicated to excellence in ophthalmic medicine and surgery. Dr Lim has installed state-of the-art laser machines and diagnostic equipment in all of these locations so that patients from the country no longer have to travel to get the treatments and tests they need. All locations now offer the latest technology in cataract biometry and optical coherence tomography (OCT). All locations offer all ophthalmic Lasers (YAG SLT, Retinal Photocoagulation and SLT).
